Eyelash extensions are a semi-perminent beauty service where a professional adheres synthetic fibers to individual natural lashes with a medical grade adhesive. Eyelash extensions last up to around 4 weeks, depending on your natural shedding cycle and retention. The service has gained popularity for it's flattering affect on the face by lengthening and adding fullness to your lash line. This is a perfect service to achieve a "ready" look with minimal makeup and no mascara.
At Lash Vibes our goal is to keep you educated about lash extensions. Before you come to your appointment please make sure you come with clean lashes. If you have any make up residue on your lashes, the extensions will not adhere properly which can lead to poor retention. A lash bath will be performed if you have any make up on which takes away from lashing time and could result in less fullness. Please no caffeine before you come in. Caffeine causes your eyes to be jittery. Stop the use of water proof mascara and lash curlers 7 days prior to your appointment. Arrive a few minutes before your scheduled appointment time to fill out paperwork.
When you arrive for your appointment we will discuss your desired look. Please bring any pictures you would love for me to recreate for you. Please note that at Lash Vibes we will only accommodate what your natural lash can safely hold. Going too long in lash extensions can damage your natural lash. Once we have agreed to the look you would like you will have to lay still for up to 2 hours. If you would like to bring head phones to listen to a podcast or book you are more than welcome to. Prior to starting your appointment please put your phone on silent. You will not be able to open your eyes to check text messages.
We all want our lashes to last as long as possible. Most people lose 3-5 natural lashes a day. This is why we recommend scheduling a fill every 2 weeks to maintain fullness. We all lose lashes at a different rate and everyone has different aftercare habits. For this reason fill appointments are based on time and not by how many lashes are used or how long it has been since your last appointment. Your retention is directly effected by your aftercare. Please note, if it has been more than 4 weeks since your last appointment you will have to schedule a full set.
Irritation is uncomfortable but often times temporary. Due to the nature of the semi permanent adhesive, you may experience some redness, watering, and sometimes burning during or after your appointment. We take every measure to ensure you are comfortable. These symptoms should subside shortly after the adhesive has completely cured. Allergies can develop over time and can get worse with repeated exposure. An allergic reaction could present itself as red puffy eyes and itchiness. If this happens we do carry a sensitive adhesive, but that does not guarantee you will not have a reaction to it. If symptoms keep persisting you will have to remove the extensions.
After care is the most important part of lash extensions. Poor aftercare can result in lash damage, retention issues and health issues. Cleansing your lashes daily is required. Cleaning your lashes will help remove natural oils and debris that can build up over time. If you don't cleanse your lashes you can end up contracting blepharitis. Once that happens you have to remove the extensions in order to properly cleanse your lashes. Stay away from oils! moisturizers, night creams, even make up removers. Oil breaks down the bond of the adhesive and can cause the extensions to prematurely shed. Be cautious around extreme heat. The oven, saunas, and fire pits can cause the extensions to straighten out. No mascara. No lash curlers. Be careful with cotton products or face wipes, they can pull out your extensions. No picking or pulling your lashes. This will result in damage to your natural lashes.
